Getting back on track in
15 STEPS
From getting ready for our kitchen and livingroom to getting our life back on the rails.

After weeks and weeks of lockdown, we can finally go outside again.
Our normal ways of living seem so far away. This blog article is dedicated to the 15 things that we can do to feel ourselves again while at the same time maintaining some of our new healthy lifestyle habits. We’ve come to give more time to things we enjoy but never had the time for in our pre-corona life.

shopping

1. Shop ‘till you drop

Online shopping is fun and easy, but nothing is better than the real thing. We can finally touch fabrics again, match new outfits and dream away during shopping. After the weeks we spent looking through our closet and Spring cleaning it, we are in desperate need of a summer wardrobe.

restaurant

2. Eating out

However, some restaurants were still open for takeaway we still miss the actual dining in a restaurant experience. We’ll have to wait and see how restaurants will cope with the exit strategy, but creativity is key since social distancing is still a must. Amsterdam for example, has a restaurant where they put couples in little greenhouses. This way they are confined in an actual bubble almost. You get to go to a restaurant and it’s even cosier, can’t wait to try!

pause café

3. Cup of friendship

With extending our corona-bubble, we can meet with people again. A chat with a friend over a cup of coffee sounds amazing! A whole afternoon dedicated to talking about what we did and didn’t like about this lockdown and how happy we are to put this weird period behind us.

4. Bench binging

Our 23436 walks made us jealous, all the benches were forbidden to use. It’s time to bring them back, we can finally sit down and listen to the outside noises without being constantly on the move or risking a ticket. We are already excited, even if you go for one bench or all of them.

coiffure

5. Please save my hair

Ladies with coloured hair (and the ones who tried the cut-your-own-hair and failed) will be ecstatic to hear that the hairdressers are opening again. Almost 8 weeks without our real therapists (the ones who treat our hair). Hopefully you already have your appointment set, otherwise take this hit and book one!

promenade

6. Keep on walking together

With ‘better together’ as our mantra: keep walking! If there is one thing that we learned from this period of confinement it’s that being active and enjoying fresh air should not be taken for granted and is a very essential part of our day. We often forgot this before the lockdown. Enjoy a walk with a friend.

sport

7. Local tourist

Soon we will be able to be a tourist again. Which Belgian city or region is on your wishlist? Namur, Limburg, Antwerp or ‘Pajottenland’? You can find something fun to do everywhere and believe us this summer we will get to know the tiniest places! We will find the prettiest woods in our country, the best place to get ice cream and even the most delicious pasta place. .

picnic

8. Picnic in the park

The moment where we get to sit down in a park in all peace, the parks will be packed. Yes, you heard it right, “sit down”. It’s really important that you are prepared for this moment. What are you packing to eat? With who are you doing a picnic? Which park and which spot? Search the less populated places in the park in advance. We don’t need to change from eating alone every day to eating with the whole population of Belgium all at once.

yoga

9. Bye Quarantine weight

We notice how out of shape we have gotten. How much we try to do at-home workouts, we need the gym and real sports. Even if it’s just to laugh uncontrollably while working out (those 40 squats were a piece of cake before we sat in our couch for 7 weeks), but we will train our abs. Nobody can stop us from still getting our summer body, just watch!

travail

10. Back to work

Never again you’ll say something along the lines of “Ugh that girl from Marketing is calling so loud again”. For ever you will remember the spring of 2020, corona crisis, where you had to answer a call with a screaming baby or explain to your child that it needs to be quiet around the house all day, every day. Oh how you have missed your co-workers and your own workspace. Can’t wait to have lunch with them!

party time

11. No, I did not forget!

Going shopping for every single birthday that you missed during the quarantine. If all the stores are opening again you can buy a present and deliver it to their house keeping the social distancing rules in the back of your head. Better late than never, because poor people who had to celebrate their birthday on their own.

nail

12. Mani-pedi

Me-time that is required. Our favourite nail salon has missed us and we missed them too *looks at self-painted nails*. Choose a new bright summer colour and go all out. Enjoy!

rendez-vous

13. That one important appointment

Some months in our year literally disappeared. This is a friendly reminder to reschedule those yearly check-ups at the dentist or ophthalmologist that were planned for during the lockdown. Health is always a number one priority so make time for that.

travail

14. Karaoke night with friends

The biggest thing we all missed is human contact and being social. The solution? Go completely crazy. Make a playlist with all the hits from the good old days and dance and jump around. Make sure that your playlist has enough songs that everyone knows and can scream the lyrics to. Fun guaranteed!

help

15. Help the ones in need

Now that our lives are getting back on track, we cannot forget about the fact that a lot of people are still at high-risk. Like our grandparents but also people with low immune systems or chronic diseases. Wear a face mask and keep helping others.
