CAN YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF SHORTLY?

I’m Heidi Vlamynck, a 47 years old single mom. Together with my youngest son I live in the small town of Houthulst, somewhere in West Flanders. My other son has already left home. I work as a healthcare professional in home care. Because I am a very sporty person, I like to stay in shape in my leisure time by doing some sports.

However, this has not always been easy. In the year 2000 I became the victim of an accident. Doctors feared that I would never be able to walk again. As a marathon runner, this is very shocking news to hear. Obviously, I was devastated. My friend nominated me for the power woman award, because she thought I had a lot of courage and strength to keep on going after my accident. I never gave up. After a long period of rehabilitation I was able to do sports again, and also at work I went in a new direction.

HOW CAN WOMEN SUPPORT EACH OTHER?

As a woman, it is very important to me to work collectively as one big team. We have to stick together and help each other chasing dreams and ultimately, achieving our goals. Therefore, we have to be there for each other, physically but more importantly also morally.

WHO IS YOUR INSPIRING WOMAN?

I don’t really have a specific icon. There are so many inspiring women… It is impossible to choose just one out of all of them!

WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED?

Never look back… You’re doing just fine.

WHAT’S YOUR POWER LOOK, WHAT LOOK DO YOU WEAR TO CONQUER THE WORLD?

I definitely prefer wearing sporty clothes. Usually, I combine jeans with a nice top, blouse or t-shirt. Since a couple of years I sometimes dare to put on a dress, that’s something I didn’t do for a very long time.

WHICH IMPORTANT MESSAGE WOULD YOU LIKE TO GIVE OTHER WOMEN?

An essential message that I would like to pass on to others is to always be yourself. Follow your heart, stay close to who you are and if you want something, go for it 100% !
