Can you introduce yourself shortly?

My name is Sofie Schoos and my friend and colleague Suzy Van Tricht nominated me for the power woman award from LolaLiza. My main occupation is kindergarten teacher and together with Suzy I started the "Mila Lila" project.

Mila Lila is a completely new educational language concept to bring preschool children into contact with the French language in a playful way. For years we have been committed to bringing young children into contact with different languages and diversity as early as possible. Mila Lila has become the figurehead for this. We believe that young children have a unique way of dealing with and getting familiar with a foreign language. We certainly want to further develop this project and get enormous amounts of energy from the reactions of children and how much they learn.

How can women support each other?

The small things make the difference for me. I attach great importance to a friendly look, a gesture, … I also try to teach this to my students: good morning, welcome, a handshake, a pat on the back or a listening ear. With these small gestures, we can all make an effort to make society a little more beautiful.

I often contact young mothers through their children. I welcome them. And I show them respect.

Who is your inspiring woman?

Pascale Naessens is an inspiring woman from the media and she is certainly an example for me. She is a strong lady with a lot of personality. Even though she lives in the spotlight, she remains true to her own values. She is strong, successful and yet seems to be down to earth. She radiates warmth and simplicity.

What is the best advice you've ever received?

I cannot remember where I first heard this mantra, but I try to live by the saying "less is more". I think appreciating and focusing on small things is much more important than worrying about bigger problems.

What's your power look, what look do you wear to conquer the world?

I feel confident in a pair of trousers. It is an easy item, which is definitely a plus for my work. Although a simple pair of pants can be worn very casually, it is also very feminine with a high heel. I like simple fashion, but always try to keep it stylish.

Which important message would you like to give other women?

Do not forget to smile! Get up with a smile, a positive mindset. A positive attitude, good posture and a friendly smile give your day more color.
